Things I learned on the job this month II
I did a lot of learning this month. I’ve begun a new editing project that I can’t really talk about yet, but involved a lot of preliminary research. So, for instance, I found myself reading this fascinating book. I almost bought this book, but then decided to just read the article it was based on instead.
And did you know that bridles were invented waaay before saddles? And that chairs in the ancient Near East were only used by the highest echelons of society? Apparently it took around 6 hours a day for a person (usually a woman) to grind enough wheat into flour to feed a household of 6 in the Biblical era. Just think of those arm muscles.
I am truly having the time of my life with this project.
Still, I haven’t spent my whole month ensconced in Biblical history and society. Thanks to Goodnet, I also spent some time reading up on a number of new scientific studies from the world of medicine and learning about new breakthroughs in bone injury rehabilitation, chronic itch, and endometriosis. Truly good news.
That’s it for this month.
Stay safe. Take naps. Do good.
