The Koren Magerman English Tanakh: the translation project of a lifetime
Working on the Koren Magerman English Tanakh as a translator was one of the greatest honors of my life. I was given the task of translating the books of Amos, Joel, Obadiah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi and bits of Job with a focus on accuracy, as well as the literary and poetic aspects of the books. Aided by erudite and specialized scholarly editors, a literary editor, and the advice and feedback from my fellow team of translators, I was able to produce a biblical translation I am incredibly proud of.
In the passage below I have translated a piece of the book of Zechariah:
So says the LORD of Hosts:
Once again
old men
and old women
will sit in the squares of Jerusalem.
In old age
a man will lean
on the staff in his hand,
and the city squares
will be full and alive
with young boys and girls
playing in her open squares.
(Zechariah 8: 4-5)
